As commented elsewhere, my car transmits APRS beacons as M0YMA-9.
When it’s parked up at home, unsurprisingly the majority of its beacons are igated by my home system, M0YMA…
My beacons typically look like this:
2020-09-22 15:29:30 BST: M0YMA-9>UQQXVP,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAO,M0YMA:`vI%l!$v\`”4R}www.m0yma.uk VX8DE_
These are interspersed with a regular catch of 2nd hops via local(ish) digipeaters MB7UG (Four Marks near Alton, 28 miles) and MB7UJ (Warfield near Bracknell, 22 miles) – and the occasional one from further afield. I keep a close eye on the APRS2 system – even on two hops, it is surprising how far they can reach.
Last week, however, I got further directly than I’ve previously achieved:
2020-09-15 00:21:10 BST: M0YMA-9>UQQXVP,G4MRS-2*,WIDE2-1,qAO,G6PDE-10:`vI%l Uv\`”47}www.m0yma.uk VX8DE_
G4MRS is the callsign of the Martlesham Radio Society at Adastral Park (MRSAP) near Ipswich!
APRS.FI records this as:
2020-09-15 00:21:10 2020-09-21 10:58:44 IO91OH > JO02PB 101.1 miles 59° 2020-09-21 10:58:44
Yes… 101.1 miles!
The Worked All Britain Awards Group has announced the launch of the 7th Series of books – now including a USB flash drive, rather than two CDs – commencing at book 24000. The new series will take effect from 17th June 2020.
Previously, I have subscribed to take up every WAB book ending in 44 – as part of the transition, book number 23044 will become valid, and book number 24044 will become valid in due course.
However, to show my continued support for WAB, I (and my two daughters) have each taken a new Series 7 book as part of the launch.
So, with effect from 17th June 2020, we are now the proud holders of the following new booknumbers:
